Visual identity for the future of Scarborough’s healthcare.
Role: Design
Core Skills: Brand Extension • Visual Systems • Signage
Team: Elma Foric, Creative Director
Agency: Hill & Knowlton, Canada
Overview:
Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is undergoing a major redevelopment to create state-of-the-art hospitals and transform the future of healthcare in the region. While SHN had an established identity, the new initiative required a refreshed visual system to communicate innovation, momentum, and public impact, without losing the trust and recognition of its core brand.
Approach:
Contributing as part of Hill & Knowlton Canada’s creative team, the design role involved extending SHN’s existing brand. The challenge was to retain the original logo and typography while building a flexible system that would reflect SHN’s ambitious, future-focused direction across multiple public and institutional platforms.
Solution:
The visual language builds on SHN’s existing colour palette and typography, introducing new design elements like forward motion symbols to represent progress and vision. These assets were developed to work seamlessly across large-scale applications, including architectural signage, campaign materials, and digital environments, ensuring both cohesion and adaptability. The result is a dynamic system that supports SHN’s growth while staying rooted in its identity.
